Why collect anime swords?

I do love anime swords, even though I don’t have as many of them as I do other sword types. There is something that many people find very intriguing about the weapons, and I assume the reason is the shows from which they are based. People who collect anime swords exclusively are often fans of one or more shows, and they want to collect everything they can that is related to the property, from action figures to DVDs and posters. Swords certainly fall into that category, but they seem to have more of an allure. The swords are great because they seem to be an actual piece of the show, a piece of the character itself. Another reason that so many people are collecting anime swords is that they make great props for those who are into cosplay. Certainly, a sword that one buys that is an actual replica is going to look convincing for the costume.
