The Appeal of Anime

Perhaps the most popular Japanese import of the last few decades in anime. What is it that makes them so appealing, even to Westerners that grew up on the likes of Mickey Mouse and Bugs Bunny. The cartoons certainly can’t be pinned down to one specific genre, and different shows appeal to people of all ages and from all walks of life. In quite a few different anime shows and movies, you will find a level of maturity that many cartoons are often known to lack. There is also a deeper, more engaging plotline than you will find in most television shows. This goes for the characters as well. There is almost always a character you can identify with, no matter your personality or taste. Another great thing about these shows is the action. As someone who became a fan later in life, I can assure you it is a fun diversion. If you are into collecting, well, that’s another great thing about anime. You can find everything from DVDs to action figures to anime swords.
